SANDOWN, ISLE OF WIGHT

Staying at the fabulous TROUVILLE HOTEL, which is centrally situated on the Esplanade, opposite the golden beach at SANDOWN. This Hotel has 88 bedrooms, with all Twin and Double Rooms having panoramic sea views, all with telephone, private bathroom, T.V., hospitality tray and direct dial telephone.
There is a lift to all floors, and the large ballroom has a maple sprung dance floor with a variety of music, dancing and entertainment every night.
The hotel also has an indoor leisure room with short mat bowling, table tennis, pool table and darts.
The restaurant with superb views across the bay, provides good service and a varied menu to suit all tastes.
TUESDAY - We depart from pickup points overleaf and travel via the motorway in a luxury coach with toilet and washroom, making a stop for lunch.
We continue our journey and head for our ferry for the short crossing to the ISLE OF WIGHT. On arrival our coach will take us to THE TROUVILLE HOTEL, Sandown.
Once you have unpacked, take a stroll round and evening dinner is served in the restaurant. Enjoy the evening’s entertainment which is planned for you.
WEDNESDAY - Full English Breakfast in the restaurant and today is a FREE DAY for you to relax and explore SANDOWN or walk along the cliff top walk or the promenade over to SHANKLIN, or use you bus pass and take the bus. Evening Dinner in the restaurant, followed by a full evening of entertainment.
THURSDAY - We meet the coach, after breakfast for our ISLAND TOUR. We first call at NEWPORT which is the County Town of the Island. The town has an array of speciality shops plus a revamped centre.
From here we travel across the island to the famous ALUM BAY, famous for its coloured sand, and THE NEEDLES. Take a ride down on the chair lift to the sands and then take a boat trip to view The Needles close up.
After dinner enjopy the entertainment provided.
FRIDAY - We meet the coach after breakfast for our day excursion first calling at WHIPPINGHAM CHURCH, which is the church Queen Victoria used to worship in when staying at Osborne House.
We then head the short distance to OSBORNE HOUSE, former home of Queen Victoria. PLEASE NOTE ENTRANCE PRICE FOR OSBORNE HOUSE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. You pay for this yourself on arrival, which is approximately £20.00, this includes entrance into Osborne House and the gardens.
Step into the sumptuous State Rooms where the Queen entertained her important guests. Peek into the private world of Victoria and Albert and their 9 children in the nursery and family rooms, visit the Queen’s sitting room, see the Queen’s personal bathtub and next door the bedroom where she died on 22 January, 1901. Prince Albert’s private suite was kept as it was in his lifetime by the Queen and many of the things he used at Osborne still lie where he left them.
Visit Osborne Beach where the Queen regularly bathed and her children learned to swim, relax with a mouth watering ice cream or steamy fresh coffee from the cafe.
Complementing the magnificent Italianate ‘royal palace by the sea’ are stunning gardens and grounds filled with breathtaking views.
If you are hungry try the Terrace Restaurant and Orangery or the Cafe.
For those people who do not wish to visit Osborne House, the coach will drop you at RYDE and collect you on the way back to the Hotel. Ryde is a beautiful town with views across the Solent to Portsmouth and Southampton.
Evening dinner in the restaurant, followed by our night’s entertainment.
SATURDAY - We travel the short distance to GODSHILL. This beautiful little village has lots of houses with thatched roofs. Take the walk up to the Church and learn about the events of a certain evening. Try a Cream Tea in one of the many cafes.
After dinner enjoy the entertainment provided.
SUNDAY - Early breakfast, then we meet the coach to commence our return journey home taking the short sail back to the mainland.
We continue our journey, making a comfort stop and to purchase lunch then we continue our journey home.
A short comfort stop will be made at Sandbach Services when the driver will give arrival home times, so passengers wishing to be met can telephone home. Estimated arrival home time is 5.00 p.m – 6.00 p.m approximately.
