IN TORQUAY

 

Monday, 2 November - Friday, 6 November, 2020.

staying at the 3 STAR CARLTON  HOTEL, part of the Torquay Leisure Hotels

The  FABULOUS  CARLTON  HOTEL  belongs to THE TORQUAY LEISURE HOTELS,  is interlinked to its sister hotels  The Victoria, The Derwent and The Toorak Hotel, and is situated on Belgrave Road, a 5 minute walk to the sea front past Torre Abbey Gardens.  

 

We have been using this hotel group for 33 years.  

 

We are booked on a CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA, an ideal break if you cannot get away for Christmas and the New Year.  You are guaranteed a warm welcome, good food and great entertainment on this festive midweek break.  All the days of the festive season are celebrated in one fun packed break.   There is the usual entertainment programme with a host of festive treats, Father Christmas, nightly entertainment with music for dancing plus visiting cabarets held in the Starlight Lounge.

 

Accommodation is Bed, Help yourself English/Continental Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and biscuits, and 4 Special Festive Evening Meals with

3 courses with choices, plus tea or coffee afterwards,  in Twin, Double or Single Rooms (no extra charge for Single Rooms)  in the Carlton Hotel which has a lift to all floors.   

 

 

MONDAY  -  We travel by Executive Coach with Toilet and Washroom, drinks facilities, via the M.6 and M.5 motorways, making a comfort stop for 30 minutes at a Services.    We continue on our journey making a stop at a Services for 45 minutes  which will give you time for lunch.    We should arrive at the Carlton Hotel, Torquay mid afternoon.    Afternoon Tea and Biscuits is served from 3.30 p.m. until 4.00 p.m.    Enjoy this whilst the porters take your luggage to your room.    We meet before dinner for Christmas Carols and a glass of mulled wine, followed by your

“Christmas Eve” candle lit dinner.  Festive  Entertainment in the Starlight Lounge, with Bingo before hand, or check the notice board to see what alternate entertainment is available.  

 

 

TUESDAY  -  Breakfast in the Hotels Restaurant between 8.00 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and this is an help yourself English Breakfast.    Today is free to enjoy yourself.   The bus and the Land Train stop outside the Derwent Hotel and this will take you to town and the harbour.  

Check out the shops in Torquay, visit the Harbour or Torre Abbey.      Bus passes can be used on any of the buses.       

Afternoon Tea and mince pies  plus a visit from Father Christmas and a Christmas Present.   Traditional “Christmas Day” dinner with all the trimmings is served in the Hotel’s restaurant.     After dinner, there is Bingo and festive entertainment in the Starlight Lounge, or check the board.

 

 

WEDNESDAY  -      We meet the coach, after breakfast  and depart on our day excursions around the beautiful Devon countryside taking in some of the more popular places.   Our first stop will be at  TOTNES, which is an old Victorian market town, on the River Dart, with beautiful shops, cafes and restaurants.    We then travel across country to NEWTON ABBOT, which is an historic market town, and today it is the outside market day and also the inside Pannier Market, as well as it having great shops, especially Austin’s departmental store.   From here we travel to the famous  

HOUSE OF MARBLES,   which is a working glass and games factory.   You can watch the glass blowing from a birds eye view in the gallery as molten glass is shaped, blown and moulded into amazing pieces of glass.   You can watch in amazement at the Marble Runs, there are 4 in the museum and one which is the largest run in the U.K.   After visit the Old Pottery Café for a cuppa or bite to eat.   “Boxing Day”  Evening Dinner in the restaurant, followed by festive entertainment and dancing in the Starlight Lounge.

 

 

THURSDAY  -  After Breakfast we meet the coach and head to EXETER.   Visit the famous Cathedral, which is close to where we drop you, or explore the shops.   There are plenty of cafes where you can get a bite to eat.    “New Year’s Eve” Pre-dinner glass of bubbly followed by candle lit celebration dinner in the restaurant.  After dinner enjoy the festive entertainment and dancing in The Starlight Lounge or any of the other hotels.

 

 

FRIDAY – We meet the coach after breakfast to commence our journey home after celebrating Christmas and New Year early.    We travel via the motorway making a stop for you to purchase lunch, then we continue on our journey, making a further stop at a Services, when the driver will give arrival home times so passengers wishing to be met can telephone home.  

 

 

PRICE FOR THIS 5 DAY TOUR IS:  £269.00  in Twin, Double and Single Rooms. 

 

SINGLE ROOMS  -  THERE IS NO EXTRA CHARGE ON THE FIRST 5 SINGLE ROOMS.   

 

 

All Seats are booked to plan.    Our coaches have seat belts, toilet and washroom, speed limiter.

Bookings are taken by telephone followed by £50.00 per person non-refundable deposit.  

 

INSURANCE :  We suggest you take out your own insurance for cancellation, leaflets available from our office.   

FINAL PAYMENT:  is 6 weeks prior to departure date.
